Cleaning Your Puzzle Mat
After puzzle sessions your mat may collect dust, hair, pet fur, and small puzzle particles. Follow these simple guidelines to keep it in great condition.
What to Avoid
- Do not machine wash the puzzle mat
- Do not soak the mat in water
- Do not use bleach, alcohol-based cleaners, or harsh chemicals
- Do not tumble dry or iron the mat
Why?
The mat is made from two bonded layers: a soft polyester top surface and a non-slip rubber bottom layer. Machine washing, soaking, or strong chemicals may weaken the bond between these layers — causing the top to separate, surface warping, reduced grip, or damage to the puzzle assembly surface. High heat from dryers or irons may also deform the rubber base.
Recommended Cleaning Methods
✔ Vacuum Cleaner
Use a vacuum on a low suction setting to remove dust, hair, lint, and pet fur. Use a soft brush attachment and move gently across the mat.
✔ Lint Roller or Tape
A sticky lint roller or adhesive tape works perfectly for removing small particles and puzzle debris — especially useful for cleaning between puzzle pieces without disturbing assembled sections.
✔ Damp Cloth for Deeper Cleaning
For accidental spills such as coffee or food stains, gently wipe the area with a soft damp cloth or wet wipe. A small amount of mild soap can be used if needed.
Important Care Tips
- Allow the mat to air dry completely before rolling or storing
- Avoid excessive rubbing to protect the soft polyester surface
- Always clean gently around assembled puzzle sections
