Setting Up Your Puzzle Mat

Before starting your puzzle session, take a few moments to properly prepare your Puzzle Mat for the best puzzling experience.

Step 1

Unroll the Puzzle Mat

Place the puzzle mat on a flat, clean, dry surface with the polyester side facing upward and the rubber side facing downward.

Since the mat ships rolled to help prevent folds and creases, slight curves or uneven areas may appear after unpacking. This is normal.

If needed:

  • Allow the mat to rest flat for several hours
  • Place a few heavy objects such as books on curved edges to help flatten the surface more quickly
  • Gently roll the mat in the opposite direction if necessary
⚠️ Important: Do not fold the mat.
Step 2

Check Your Puzzle Size

Compare your puzzle dimensions with the maximum recommended puzzle areas marked by the dotted guidelines on the mat.

⚠️ Important: Some puzzle manufacturers produce larger-than-standard piece sizes or different final dimensions. Always check the finished puzzle size listed on the box.

Recommended Maximum Puzzle Sizes

Piece Count Maximum Size
1,000 pieces 26.8” × 18.9”  (68 × 48 cm)
1,500 pieces 33.5” × 22.8”  (85 × 58 cm)
3,000 pieces 45.7” × 33.5”  (116 × 85 cm)
💡 Pro Tip: Your mat works great for very large puzzles too (6,000–9,000 pieces). Many puzzlers assemble one section at a time and combine sections later.
Step 3

Prepare Your Accessories

  • Place the foam tube, straps, and unused accessories inside the storage bag while puzzling
  • Assemble and position your sorting trays nearby for easy access to puzzle pieces
Step 4

Clean the Surface if Needed

If the mat was previously used, quickly remove dust, lint, pet hair, or debris before starting. A clean surface helps puzzle pieces glide and connect more comfortably.

Now your puzzle space is ready — enjoy your session! 🧩
